Quad Cities Christian School is a private, non-profit, nondenominational Christian School serving students that are in Grades 7-12 in the Quad City area. Although QCCS is a young school, the staff averages over 20 years of teaching experience. It was formed and is operated by a parent-selected board. Current enrollment is 50 students and a teaching staff of seven. QCCS acquired it’s own building in June of 2006.
Our school year begins mid-August and ends the beginning of June. We have a one week fall break and a two week Christmas break. Other holidays are given off as well.
QCCS values education that is taught from a Christian perspective verses a world-view. Our teachers are men and women who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and teach their subjects from a Biblical perspective. QCCS desires to prepare young people for career and life experiences through its spiritual, academic, vocational, and athletic development.
We offer College Prep classes as well as some other additional classes. Science can be taken as advanced or regular. English can be taken as honors or regular. Math and Foreign languages are taught in the computer lab. Additional classroom instruction is available in math for those who need it. Via computer, any level of math is attainable. A wide variety of foreign language is available. The Foreign Language teacher specializes in Spanish since this is her first language.Alongside of Math, English, and Foreign Language is World History and U. S. History, a variety of sciences including Chemistry and Physics, Business, Bible, Yearbook, Choir, and Physical Education.
QCCS opens its doors to a diverse student body. Along with local minorities, we welcome several foreign exchange students from around the world. Learning from them is a great opportunity to expand our horizons as we embrace them and they learn from us.
Athletics at QCCS currently consists of soccer (for boys), volleyball (for girls), and basketball. We are members of ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and participate in ACSI tournaments. We play in the Northern Illinois Christian Conference and travel as far as Galena, IL and Cedar Rapids, IA. One week during basketball season is designated as Spirit Week concluding the week with an invitation to alumni to a home game and a student elected homecoming court.
Chapel is held once a week and brings in local youth pastors with great Biblical counsel for young people. Our Student worship band leads the student body in singing. Opportunities are available for students to speak and give testimonies. Spiritual Emphasis Week is a week that has mornings set aside for spiritual growth and enrichment. A guest speaker is brought in for the week. Training sessions are set up as well as a Question and Answer time.
Community Service hours are required for each student to encourage them to discover the joy of investing in their own community. Also, a Student Hunger Drive is taken in the fall in conjunction with many other local high schools and the Riverbend Food Bank. We collect non-perishable food for the food bank to distribute to needy people in the community.
Lunch can be a sack lunch and/or purchased from the Senior Class. We will be expanding the lunch program this year to include tacos, pizza, and other hot food. Chips, candy, water, and pop are also available. The profit from the Senior Class lunch sales is put toward the Senior Class trip taken in May.
Senior Class Trip is a combination mission trip and fun trip. For the past two years, the senior class took a trip to Dauphin Island and did some volunteer work in Alabama with the recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
Other field trips throughout the year include: a canoe trip for the Senior Class; Cubs trip to Chicago; Movie(s) that ties in with School; a Spanish Restaurant for Foreign Language Students; and a variety of Historical sites and/or science museums.
Student Council gives students the opportunity for leadership in their own school. It has two representatives from each class in grades 9-12.
